Thrilling win for Devakottai

Karaikudi: Napoleon’s unbeaten 56 helped Devakottai CC posted thrilling three-run win over Friends CC and enter the semifinals of the Optra Computer Trophy state-level invitation Twenty20 cricket tournament here on Saturday.

The scores (quarterfinals): Devakottai 172 for five in 20 overs (R. Balamurugan 34, Napoleon 56 not out, Karthick 38, Mani three for 37) bt Friends 169 for six in 20 overs (Senthil Devan 76).

Knights 129 in 19.5 overs (Balamurugan 42) lost to Bishop Heber College 130 for two in 15.4 overs (Ganesan 30, Sudhakar 58 not out).

Sachin Bros 132 for eight in 20 overs (Premkumar 52, Rajashanmugam three for 34) lost to PRC 133 for four in 19.1 overs (Prithiviraj 40, Muthupandi 60 not out).

Sri Vaari Group 134 in 19.2 overs (Ashok Kumar 54, Pandyan 36, Selvaraj three for 23, L. Pascal three for 29) lost to Syed Ammal Engg. College 136 for four in 16.2 overs (M.M. Rajesh 67, Baskara Sethupathy 42 not out).

Pradeep scalps five

Pradeep’s five for 15 helped Gavaskar CC defeat Friends of Power CC by three wickets in the Kayal Trophy State-level Twenty20 cricket tournament at Kayalpatnam on Saturday.

The scores: Friends of Power 86 in 16 overs (Jegan 41, Pradeep five for 15) lost to Gavaskar 88 for seven in 17 overs (Karthik 39).

Dr. Sivanthi PEC 107 in 18 overs (Subramaniam four for 34) lost to Classic 108 for six in 19 overs (Dharmaraj 28).

Nethaji in final

Nethaji Sports Club (Chennai) entered the final of the KCAD Chidambara Nadar memorial trophy state-level football tournament defeating Armed Reverse Police (Chennai) 5-3 via tie-breaker at SHN Edward HSS ground, Sattur, on Saturday. At the end of the regulation time, the teams were level 1-1.

Bharath Kingsley put ARP ahead in the 20th minute. But, Naresh found the equaliser for Nethaji in the 45th minute, converting a spot kick.

In the tie-breaker, Rajesh, Udayasurya, Kamesh, Naresh scored for Nethaji while only Kanagaraj and Sundaravana Kannan converted for ARP.
