Abhijeet in joint sixth spot

NEW DELHI: Abhijeet Gupta pulled a draw against ninth seeded German Grandmaster Felix Levin to reach seven points and share the sixth spot with 16 others after nine rounds of the Benasque International Open chess tournament at Benasque, Spain, on Friday.

With one round to go, five players share the lead at 7.5 points.

The results: Ninth round (involving Indians): Abhijeet Gupta (7) drew with Felix Levin (Ger, 7); Vladimir Baklan (Ukr, 7) bt R. B. Ramesh (6); Vladimir Burmakin (7) bt Neelotpal Das (6); Shyam Sundar (6.5) drew with Joseph Sanchez (Phi, 6.5).

Karen Movsziszian (Arm, 5.5) lost to B. Adhiban (6.5); Swapnil Dhopade (6) drew with D. Harika (6); Jesus Maria de la Villa Garcia (Esp, 6) drew with S. Meenakshi (6); Pedro Mascaro March (Esp, 5.5) lost to Deep Sengupta (6.5); S. Nitin (6) drew with Joaquin Miguel Antoli Royo (Esp, 6).
