Formation: Human chain formed by Amnesty International at Paramakudi on Saturday.

RAMANATHAPURAM: The Tamil Nadu unit of the Amnesty International, a premier human rights organisation, formed a human chain at Paramakudi on Saturday to urge China to uphold values of human rights. It was organised in the run-up to the Olympic games in Beijing.

The human chain was among 29 formations formed worldwide, including eight places in the country.

Dr. Rajaram Gurusamy, Principal-In-charge, Government Arts College, Paramakudi, who was a senior member of Amnesty International, said that as many as 125 students and members of the forum took part in the human chain.

They spread out in such a way to form the word “freedom.”
