NO ESCAPE: Vehicles ‘packed like sardines’ at the Indra Reddy crossroads on Saturday. —
HYDERABAD: Traffic came to a standstill for more than an hour on the main stretch from Indra Reddy crossroads near Agricultural University to Rethibowli on Saturday afternoon.
Scores of motorists, especially those going or returning from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, faced a horrid time as a major portion of the road was occupied for laying pillars for the construction of P.V. Narasimha Rao Elevated Expressway.
Traffic police too threw up their hands, as the available carriage way was reduced more than by half due to the ongoing construction work.
“There is no other option. We have to face it for the next few months till the work is completed,” said Asifnagar Traffic Inspector G. Anjaneyulu.
