BANGALORE: If you want to sip pure coffee without chicory in the capital of the State, head to India Coffee House on the premises of the Coffee Board office on Ambedkar Veedhi. More so now because, it has been refurbished and the outlet offers some great vegetarian treats to go with the hot cup of authentic Karnataka coffee. India Coffee House is managed by the Coffee Board which is an undertaking of the Union Government. It was opened in 1964. On the renovation of the outlet, board Director A. Shahjahan said that over the years, India Coffee House had lost some sheen and the board wanted it to be one of the top establishments, which could match or even excel in the interiors and service with other modern establishments in its class. FeaturesBut the characteristic features of the Coffee House had been retained, Mr. Shajahan said. So bearers continue to wear the typical white uniform with their flamboyant headgear. About the menu, he said: “It may not be as elaborate as other restaurants, but it is quite impressive. Apart from the traditional idly, vada and dosa, we have a number of bread items. There is omelette also.” Most importantly, its trademark coffee remains unchanged and orthodox in the best sense of the term. There are no additives and no change in making methods. It is just coffee served in traditional cup-and-saucer, Mr. Shahjahan said. The India Coffee House, in a bid to reach out its flavour of true coffee to the households of coffee lovers, sells coffee filters of various sizes and types and coffee powder.
