Book on Wodeyar dynasty launched

HYDERABAD: Splendours of Royal Mysore: The Untold Story of Wodeyars, a book by Vikram Sampath was launched here on Saturday by Rani Shanta Rameshwara Rao, Chairperson of Orient Longman group of publishers.

Divided into three segments, the book traces the history of the Wodeyar dynasty from its inception and has even touched upon the Wodeyar influence on arts and culture of Karnataka in more than 100 pages.

Absorbing

Narendra Luther, former Chief Secretary to the State Government, said the ‘absorbing’ book explained finer points of the Wodeyar dynasty.

Similarities

A vivid reader of history books, the former bureaucrat said there were several similarities between the Nawabs of Hyderabad and the rulers of Mysore. S.V. Ramakrishnan, former Chief Commissioner of Central Excise commended the author’s effort.

Despite being an engineering graduate, the author could narrate the history impressively, Mr. Ramakrishnan said.
