BANGALORE: A five-year-old boy was killed when he was run over by a tractor on Magadi Road 4th Cross on Saturday. Angry residents trashed the driver of the tractor before handing him over to the police. According to the police, Nitin Manjunath, a resident of Secunderabad, had come down to the city along with his mother, Usha, to his grandparents’ house. Usha, who was carrying Manjunath, was standing near the rear of the tractor that was parked near the house when driver Velu (50), a resident of Hosur, moved the vehicle in the reverse direction without noticing the woman and her son. Usha and Manjunath fell down as the tractor hit them. Manjunath, who slipped from his mother’s hold, came under the wheels of the tractor and died on the spot.
