NEDUMBASSERY: Two accused in the controversial Malabar spirit smuggling case were arrested from the domestic departure terminal of the Cochin International Airport here on Saturday. The passengers, identified as M. Ramesh (40), and Edison Mathew (36), were arrested as they reached the airport to board a flight to Bangalore. Sources in the airport said a police team, comprising a circle inspector and a sub-inspector from Valayar, Palakkad, acting on a tip-off that the accused were trying to escape to Bangalore through the Cochin airport, arrested them with the help of the local police. The local police confirmed the arrest of the two passengers, but refused to divulge any details. With their arrest, only six of the total 60 accused persons remain to be arrested.
