PUDUCHERRY: The Privilege Committee of the Puducherry Assembly on Saturday decided to call Secretaries and other officials, who attended the review meeting where Chief Secretary to the territorial government Rakesh Behari allegedly made certain remarks, to give their version on July 19. Shortly after a meeting of the Privilege Committee, its Chairman and Deputy Speaker A.V.Sreedharan told reporters that Mr. Behari had submitted his reply to the notice given by the panel on July 4. He said the Privilege Committee had sent the notice to the Chief Secretary on the basis of the issue raised by three MLAs that he made “derogatory remarks against the Cabinet”. The Privilege Committee has decided now to enquire into the issue further by asking the Secretaries, police and other officers, who had attended the review meeting called by Mr. Behari at the Chief Secretariat on June 25, he said. Replying to queries, he said the Committee had to fulfil procedures such as enquiries and perusal of records before submitting its report to the Speaker.
