Mohun Bagan wins title

NEW DELHI: Mohun Bagan pipped Sikkim Football Academy (SFA) in the tie-breaker to win the India leg of the Yakult Danone Nations Cup football tournament at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Saturday.

With this win, Mohun Bagan has qualified to represent India in the main competition of the Nations Cup for 10 to 12 year olds to be held at Parc des Princes in Paris from September 4 to 7.

Anubrata Maity (fifth) drew first blood for Mohun Bagan and Bibek Bhutia (11th) scored the equaliser for SFA and, after the 20-minute regulation time, both the teams were locked 1-1.

In the tie-breaker, Maity, Suvendu Narayan Das and Tarun Sarkar found the net for the winning team while Sonam Gatso Lepcha and Karma Dorjee Lepcha scored for SFA.
