KANNUR: M.A. Yusuffali, chairman of Emke Group, U.A.E., has said that the number of Malayali employees working in his group of companies is projected to reach 20,000 by 2010. Speaking at a press meet here on Sunday, Mr. Yusuffali, who was conferred the Padmasree, said that the group presently employed 13,000 people from the State. He also said that Infrastructure Kerala, which had been formed by non-resident Keralites in the Gulf countries, would take up various infrastructure development projects in the State. Mr. Yusuffali also said that he would take keen interest in mobilising investments from Malayalis in the Gulf countries, governments of those countries and foreign investors for the proposed airport in Kannur which he said would give a fillip to industrial and tourism development in the region. Mr. Yusuffali, who is a director of Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL), said that the CIAL model should be given preference while developing the proposed airport. Mr. Yusuffali was later given a public reception by the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce.
