Andhra Pradesh
A realistic historical and sociological account of idli-sambar was presented by Mr. T.S. Rao in Readers Mail (July-07). The agitators, who probably having tasted defeat in the byelections wish to indulge in gimmicks of sorts in a bid to gain the lost ground. It is time they stopped vandalising shops and establishments. Invading hotels, asking for deletion of the word Andhra etc will not further the cause. Such acts will make citizens lose sympathy for the agitators. Subrahmanyam, Kavali BSNL’s poor serviceThe service of BSNL’s broadband Internet in Anantapur is hopelessly bad. The service was out of order from June 30 and was not restored till July 3. When enquired, the staff gave vague replies. They should explain clearly to the customer about the problem and the approximate time required for restoring the service, instead of keeping the customer in dark. Hope the authorities concerned do the needful. G.Azeemuddin, Anantapur Need for halt at KadapaThe Madurai-Manmad weekly express does not stop at Kadapa Railway station which is strategically located in Rayalaseema. People from Kadapa who want to travel by this train need to go to Tirupati which is causing great deal of inconvenience. If this train stops at Kadapa station it will be beneficial to many people of the district besides those from the nearby Prakasam, Nellore and Kurnool also. The railway authorities should see that this train stops at Kadapa Railway Station for at least few minutes. G. Sreenivasa Murthy, Kadapa Injustice to open category studentsWith reference to the news item “Engineering counselling bonus for the reserved category,” the G.O. 55 envisages that one reserved candidate after blocking a seat in open category, can opt for a seat in the reserved category. The seat thus vacated in the open category now goes to the reserved category. This is rank injustice to open category students. If many candidates shift like this there will be very few seats left in the open category. The reserved candidates already enjoy double benefits in the name of reservation. This GO should be scrapped or suitably amended. M. Onnuriah Chetty, Nandyal
