Collector inspects works under NREGS

Krishnagiri: Collector Santhosh Babu on Saturday inspected the progress of works being carried out under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) in Krishnagiri district. He inspected the works on desiltation of tanks at Kondepalli and Palekuri in Krishnagiri union. He enquired whether they were getting work every day, and being paid wages properly. He also inspected the renovation of canal in the Bynapalli tank. Later the Collector inspected the construction work of individual sanitary complexes for women and children at Bynapalli. The Collector then inspected the work on improvement of school building at Kondepalli panchayat union primary school. He directed officials concerned to complete the works on time. The Collector also conducted a surprise check at the fair price shop at Thalampatti. He directed officials concerned to ensure quality in the execution of works under the scheme. Contractors should avoid unnecessary delays in the execution and complete the works within the specific time. Works to the tune of Rs.4.70 crores were being carried out under NREGS in 85 panchayats in Krishnagiri district he said.
