CUDDALORE: To avert any strike, the Neyveli Lignite Corporation has agreed to pay Rs. 25,000 in advance to all regular employees. This will be adjusted against bonus incentive and conveyance allowance, which should have been revised on January 1, 2006 and January 1, 2004. The Labour Progressive Front (LPF) and the Pattali Thozhir Sangam had served strike notices on the management. LPF general secretary R. Gopalan told The Hindu that since the stalemate persisted even after several rounds of talks, his union had urged the management to pay Rs. 30,000 in advance, but the management agreed to pay only Rs. 25,000. Since an agreement was clinched, the LPF called off the strike.
