Inspection bungalow is the project site Labour Minister to hold talks with Fisheries Minister KOLLAM: A tourism project is likely to come up at the seafront Tangasseri Inspection Bungalow complex of the Harbour Engineering Department (HED) here. Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan, who is also the Kollam MLA, will hold talks with Minister for Fisheries and Harbour Engineering S. Sarma this week in this connection. The bungalow is located on the idyllic northern headland of the Kollam bay. The complex is also the entry point to the 2.10-km long Tangasseri breakwater. The bungalow was constructed by the department as a supervision camp for the officers when work on the breakwater project was in progress. The complex is now lying idle. But tourism planners have understood its potential. In addition to its picturesque look, the bungalow being located at Tangasseri has it own separate tourism potential. Tangasseri has historical importance since it was an enclave ruled by the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British. According to sources, the government is keen to tap the tourism potential of the local when the proposal was mooted. The Minister-level talks are expected to formalise the tourism project at the bungalow complex. Once the green signal is obtained, the department will entrust the complex on lease to the District Tourism Promotion Council.
