Sivananda Seshadri in semifinals

CHENNAI: Top seed Sivananda Seshadri (Lord’s TTA) overcame a seasoned R. Rajesh (LIC) 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 5-11, 11-9, 10-12, 12-10 in a men’s quarterfinal contest of the TTPPA State-ranking table tennis tournament at Hall of TT, Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.

ICF takes trophy

ICF beat Don Bosco Annai Youth 1-0 in the final of the YCFC State-ranking football tournament here on Sunday. Ashok Kumar was the goal scorer, slotting home in the tenth minute.

M.K. Stalin, Local Administration Minister, gave away the trophies.

Sekar, Saranya triumph

B. Sekar (Chennai Port Trust MHSS) and J. Saranya of Velammal MHSS clinched the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in the Tiruvallur District junior chess championship, organised by Tiruvallur District CA at Jaya MHSS here.

S.R. Mukundan, Manager Int. Trade, Metco Marketing (India) Pvt. Ltd., distributed the prizes.

The following four players were selected to represent forthcoming State FIDE rated for chess championships:

Junior boys: B. Sekar, Chennai Port Trust MHSS (5.5), J. Bavan Kumar, RBMHSS, Thiruvatriyur (5), 3. N.Surendran, Velammal MHSS (4) and S. Kathiresan, Jaya Arts & Science College, Thirunindravur (4).
