Bringing a humane face to modelling

Suresh Krishnamoorthy

Sindhura Gadde

HYDERABAD: A first look surely makes a person take a second, closer look at this dusky damsel.

And a minute’s conversation is enough to understand that this judicious blend of beauty and brains she is not to be taken for granted.

Considering that her debut in the Telugu film industry drew poor reviews, Sindhura Gadde belied expectations that she would be depressed. But that is not to be, for this lass is a bundle of confidence, one who would never a ‘hit ya miss’ to affect her. The debut in question was ‘Sangamam’, directed by Rasool Ellore.

Sindy, as she is popular, has travelled far more than most people her age and seen a lot of life too.

Hailing from Vijayawada, she left with parents and younger sister to far-away New Zealand and became permanent residents. Good at academics pursuing studies in pharmacology, physiology and modelling, she donned the robes of an anchor with Desi Hungama, an Indian-owned telly channel in Kiwiland.

Soon she picked up enough skills as a newsreader and journalist covering youth-related stories and playing pivotal roles in planning dance, pop and quizzing. She also earned kudos when she ‘brought a human face to modelling as a profession’ posing for campaigns of the Breast Cancer society and Child Cancer Society in 2003. She also drew the spotlight of fame when she bagged the Pond’s Femina Miss India - World 2005 and then went on to bag the First Runner-Up at Miss India World pageant.

Spending more time in Mumbai while travelling across the length and breadth of India, Sindhura wishes to do her bit to life the nation’s image in the global comity of nations, while pursuing her career in films.

She does have her sights set on Bollywood and is expected to make an announcement of doing a ‘big movie with big names’ soon. All the best, Sindy!
