Rourkela: A wild elephant was electrocuted near Kunarmal village in Sundargarh district, 160 km from here, forest officials said on Monday. The full grown tusker died when it came in contact with a low 33 kv high tension electricity line after it strayed from a herd moving along the Gariamal-Bamra forest corridor, Sundargarh divisional forest officer B.N. Thakur said. Tusk intactThe carcass with one of the tusks intact was found on Sunday by villagers, who informed the concerned police and forest officials, he said. The involvement of poachers in the death of the elephant has been ruled out by the police. - PTI
