MADURAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s literary works will soon be read in China with a university in that country proposing to translate them into Chinese language, according to G. Thiruvasagam, Vice-Chancellor, Bharathiar University. Dr. Thiruvasagam, who was here to launch the participatory programme of the university at Yadava College, said the president of Huaihua University, China, had conveyed the proposal to him. Bharathiar University has developed a good rapport with the Chinese University, paving the way for Chinese students to pursue degree courses in Linguistics and Computer Science in the Coimbatore-based university. Having successfully translated ‘Tholkappia Poonga,’ authored by Mr. Karunanidhi, into English, the university has got the clearance to translate all his literary works into English. The English version will be sent to Huaihua University for translation into Chinese language, he said. The Department of Linguistics of Bharathiar University has translated all poetic works of Subramania Bharathi into English, he said. An exclusive division handled the publication of all translated works.
