dated July 15, 1958: France and Russia

Prof. Sergei Vinogradov, Soviet Ambassador to France, and Gen. De Gaulle on July 12 discussed the possibility of developing scientific and cultural relations between Russia and France. The meeting was arranged at the envoy’s request. On leaving the Prime Minister’s residence, Prof. Vinogradov, told reporters” “Having recently been in Moscow, I brought to Gen. De Gaulle greetings from our Prime Minister, Mr. Nikita Khrushchev.” He added that he had discussed with Gen. De. Gaulle the prospects of a summit meeting and found him “favourably disposed towards the holding of such a meeting.”
