CHENNAI: Hewitt Associates, a global human resources management and outsourcing company, on Monday announced the launch of the 6th Hewitt Best Employers in India 2009 study. This is part of the Hewitt Best Employers in Asia 2009 study conducted across key countries in Asia, including Australia and New Zealand, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. The study will explore new trends and factors that are impacting human capital management in the Indian industry and will delve on factors such as how workplace diversity, the synergies of employee personal values and corporate values contribute to making best employers. Research aspects, including organisational culture, talent scarcity, part-time and casual employment, the use of contractors, perceptions of corporate responsibility and gender-based diversity make this study relevant to trends and developments in the market today. Research initiativesAccording to Vishal Pandit, Market Manager, India and Middle East, Hewitt Associates, “Our studies have shown that best employers attract nearly five times more talent and are able to achieve 35 per cent higher employee retention rates. The 2009 study will see the introduction of some exciting and new research initiatives and we believe this will be the largest ever survey of the values of Indian employees.” The study procedure involves surveying the participating organisations using three instruments developed by Hewitt: the employee opinion survey (to gauge the level of employee engagement and gather information on employee perceptions of their work environment), people practices inventory (to gather information about philosophies, practices, and policies that influence the management of people) and CEO questionnaire, followed by ‘blind’ judging by external jury panel. PanelThe Hewitt Best Employers in India 2009 will be selected by an independent judging panel comprising leading academics in India and a number of recognised business leaders. Details of these partnerships and judging panels will be announced in the coming months. The study is open to all organisations in India that have been established for a minimum of two years and employ not less than 100 employees. ParticipationOrganisations with an interest in participating in the study can either contact Hewitt Associates at 022-40345000 or submit their application through the official website at www.bestemployersindia.com , or by sending an e-mail to bestemployersindia@hewitt.com. The results of the study will be released in March-April 2009, where the survey’s key findings will be highlighted.
