Maths, science and values

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: An exhibition, ‘Values through mathematics and science’, by students of Satyamurti Higher Secondary School, T.Nagar, formed part of the Kamaraj Day celebrations here on Monday by the Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust.

Students of Class VI related good habits and practices to addition and bad behaviour to subtraction.

Students of Class VIII used proverbs and values to shed more light on Biology theorries and ideas.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Jan Uwe Burmeister, chairperson, Yoga Vereinigung Rajagopalan e.V.Germany. Higher secondary students used simple riddles and puppetry shows to highlight the evolution of mathematics and its use.

Some of the other interesting exhibits included those on genetic engineering and environmental pollution.

Maya Gaitonde of Bala Mandir Kamaraj Trust said the Satyamurti Higher Secondary School was run by the Trust.

There are about 500 children studying in Classes VI to Plus Two. Most of them belong to slums in T. Nagar.

Last year, the students took part in an exhibition on value education in English and social science.

This way, students learnt their subjects and values to grow into good citizens, she said.
