Students play host to UK delegation

Guests given a grand Indian welcome with garlands and vermilion

HYDERABAD: It was a cross cultural interaction for the students of Abhyasa who played host to a delegation of four teacher awardees and a journalist from the United Kingdom that was here to visit Indian schools.

The delegation arrived on June 24 and the theme of the day was ‘Festivals of India’.

A sumptuous lunch followed the grand Indian welcome with vermilion and garlands, and the visitors were explained about the festivals here with the help of charts.

Each chart was accompanied by the corresponding festival dishes that were tasted and praised by the delegates.

Cultural programmes

Cultural programmes representing various festivals such as Ganesh Chaturti, Durga Puja, Onam and Holi were performed by the students attired in resplendent costumes.

Offer to Abhyasa

A guided tour of the campus followed along with a short film screened about the school. Dai Jones from the Villers High School invited ten students from Abhyasa to attend an international conference in London.Elections and investiture ceremonies among various schools seem yet to be in progress, with Gitanjali Devashray and Azra Public School the latest to celebrate.

Gitanjali Devashray

The Fourth Investiture ceremony of Gitanjali Devashray was celebrated on July 10 on the school premises at S.D. Road.Additional Commissioner of GHMC Vani Mohan and film director Shekhar Kammula attended the celebrations as chief guests with the latter distributing saplings among the students as part of ‘Greener Hyderabad’ drive.

Azra Public School

Azra Public School at Asif Nagar too conducted its Investiture ceremony on July 11.

St. Ann’s Bolarum

St.Ann’s High School, Bolarum was all smiles with 100 per cent results in the SSC Board Examinations and with eight of its students scoring above 90 per cent marks.

Y. Shwetha, P. Bhargavi, Deepa Jain, K.L. Priyanka, T. Shravya, T. Lavanya, R. Himitha, and Amuktha Malyada were the students who scored over 90 per cent in the examinations.
