DRM assumes office

Anil Singhal

MADURAI: Anil Singhal, an officer of Indian Railway Stores Service, is the new Divisional Railway Manager of Madurai Division. He took charge on Monday. He succeeds Hemant Kumar, who has been transferred to Integral Coach Factory, Chennai.

A graduate in Civil Engineering from Delhi University, Mr. Singhal joined the Indian Railways in 1978. He was hitherto Controller of Stores at Central Organisation for Modernisation of Workshops in New Delhi. He has worked in various capacities in the Stores Department in Northern Railway and North Frontier Railway, and as Executive Director in Railway Board and RITES.

He has also worked in several prestigious World Bank projects in Gambia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Mr. Singhal said that he would focus on passenger amenities and earnings of the division. Besides concentrating on punctuality of trains, he said that equal importance would be given to safe and secure travel of passengers.

The divisional officials would work closely with railway construction wing for completing gauge conversion works on time.
