Cyclist knocked down

TAMBARAM: A 49-year-old man on Monday succumbed to injuries he sustained after being hit by a motorcycle on which three youths were riding on Medavakkam Main Road at Kovilambakkam near Tambaram on Sunday.
V. Arumugham was a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Kovilambakkam.
He was a supervisor at a construction site and was returning home for lunch on a bicycle. The youths hit the cycle, throwing Arumugham on the road. After first aid, he was admitted at the Government General Hospital in Chennai, where he died on Monday morning. The youths were reported to have fled from the spot.
Pallikaranai police conducted preliminary investigations, registered a case and transferred it to Tambaram Traffic Police (Investigation). Further investigations to trace the youths are on.
