Student federations call for schools’ bandh

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Student federations on Monday called upon students and teachers working in both private and government schools across the State to observe a bandh on Tuesday in protest against introduction of CBSE syllabus in government schools.

Through GO MS 76, the government was converting 6,500 government schools in the State into English medium schools, said

All-India Students Federation State Council president K. Srujan Kumar, and demanded immediate withdrawal of the GO.

Supporting call

Supporting the bandh call, Students Federation of India Ranga Reddy Committee Secretary P. Narayana said many teacher posts were vacant in government schools and instead of recruiting new teachers the government was introducing CBSE syllabus.

Lack of amenities and poor strength of teachers in the schools was resulting in regular school dropouts.

It was high time the government looked into the matter and fulfilled the demands, he said.
