Captivating: Sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik going round the exhibition of paintings by child artist Aditya Asutosh Panda. BHUBANESWAR: Master Stroke, a solo show of paintings by an 11-year-old artist of the city - Aditya Asutosh Panda – that concluded here on Sunday turned out to be a distinct debut for this standard six student of Delhi Public School. Internationally acclaimed sand sculptor Sudarsan Patnaik, who inaugurated the two-day show at Jayadev Bhawan on Saturday, said he was moved by the ‘taste and technique’ of the tiny tot. “A boy of his age highlighting Orissa’s heritage through a series of paintings makes me feel proud of him. Moreover, he has shown signs of maturity in his selection of themes and use of water colours,” he applauded. The show had showcased 40 paintings depicting the child artist’s impression of various temples of Bhubaneswar, Konark and Puri and of the Satapada tourists’ spot famous for Dolphins. “I was very excited to discover a number of beautiful temples and tourist spots during my visit to these places in and around my city and when I started learning painting, I just wished to paint all these places I had loved,” said the child. Surprisingly, Aditya started learning painting with water colour in April this year under an art teacher during the summer vacation and he could produce 65 works in just 30 days - a rare record for the boy who has nearly a dozen awards in his kitty from various competitions.
