CHANDIGARH: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam on Monday claimed that it had succeeded in reducing aggregate transmission and commercial (AT and C) losses by seven per cent over the past one year. An official spokesman said the Nigam had managed to reduce the losses from 32.38 per cent to 25.06 per cent in 2007-08 which was a “new high” as these losses were reduced by about 12 per cent during the last three years. He added that the target for the year was to reduce the AT&C losses by six per cent which was not only achieved but exceeded. The revenue collection efficiency had increased by over seven per cent during the last three years from about 94 per cent in 2004-05 to over 101 per cent in 2007-08. An important initiative being taken was to segregate rural domestic and agriculture load in rural areas and about 800 new feeders would be created under this scheme. Also, a large number of low-capacity independent transformers were being provided to the consumers. The emphasis was on energy audit and an energy audit control room equipped with computers had been started at Gurgaon. The meters were being relocated outside on the poles in phased manner and raids were being carried out to check theft of power.
