Rain woes: One of the roads in Bangalore which was flooded following the downpour on Monday. Bangalore: Bangaloreans, who were grumbling over the past few days over the gloomy weather, had some reason to smile on Monday evening as the skies opened up. The rains not only brought down the temperature but also the frayed nerves of people who had been complaining about the lack of rainfall. Those returning home were caught unawares by the downpour that lashed several parts of the city. Till around 8.30 p.m., the city recorded 38 mm of rainfall. The Meteorological Department has forecast the possibility of rain or thundershowers on Tuesday. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike control rooms did not receive many rain-related complaints. Two trees were uprooted in Banashankari and JP. Nagar, though no casualties were reported. Small branches fell owing to the heavy downpour in RPC Layout and Tulasi Thota. Vehicular movement was also not affected by the downpour. Traffic was slow at CBI Junction on Bellary Road and Deve Gowda Circle in Girinagar. The traffic police said that vehicular movement was affected as the drains goy clogged and some areas reported flooding. They said that once the drains were cleared, normality was restored.
