Panikkar panel may submit report today

Thiruvananthapuram: The K.N. Panikkar committee appointed by the government to look into complaints raised from various quarters about the new textbooks introduced for some classes in the State’s schools is likely to submit its interim report on Tuesday. The committee held its first sitting here on Monday; 16 of the 18 members turned up for the discussions. The ‘controversial’ lesson in the social studies textbook for the seventh standard was among the topics of discussion at the meeting. — Staff Reporter
