Hampi bandh passes off peacefully

Staff Correspondent

BELLARY: A near-total bandh was observed at Hampi on Monday. It was called by pro-Hindu organisations, under the banner of Save Hampi Campaign Committee, to protest against the disfigurement of the images of Hindu gods by miscreants. The bandh was peaceful.

Almost all shops and business establishments remained closed. Vehicular traffic was also affected for some time. A procession was taken out from Virupaksha temple to Yeduru Basava mantap. Later, the protesters staged a dharna in front of the Virupaksha temple.
