14 buses seized

HYDERABAD: The recently-constituted special squads in the Transport Commissioner’s Vigilance wing have seized 14 buses/contract carriages belonging to six private companies for operating with improper permits and paying lower rates of tax.

Transport Commissioner Raymond Peter said the buses were seized in surprise checks over the last four days. The buses used ‘single or two-district’ permits to operate inter-State services by just paying Rs. 890 per seat per quarter instead of the prescribed Rs. 3,650, he said.
