Vidyut’s century props up Jolly Rovers

Chennai: S. Vidyut’s 163, that included 25 boundaries, helped Jolly Rovers to 361 for the loss of four wickets against Young Stars, on the first day of the second round of the TNCA first division cricket league at IIT-Chemplast on Monday. Vidyut consumed 227 balls for his innings, and put on 169 runs for the second wicket with Petson Matthews. He was also involved in a 104-run partnership with V. Subramania Siva for the third wicket.

Left-arm medium pacer V. Rajinikanth picked up five wickets for 25 runs for Indian Bank against Parry’s at Murugappa-TI Cycles Ground. Parry’s managed 199 in 88.5 overs.

K.B. Arun Karthick scored his second century this season, as Grand Slam made 290 for six against Alwarpet at ICL Gurunanak. Arun put on 148 runs for the third wicket with A.C. Prathiban, who scored 81.Arun struck 13 boundaries, while Prathiban managed 12.

At CPT-IP, B. Vijay Rahul made 100 runs of UFCC T. Nagar’s 239 for the loss of nine wickets, on the first day against India Pistons. Vijay, who struck 12 boundaries, put on 86 with Shravan Krishnan for the sixth wicket, and was involved in a 61-run stand with D.J. Gokulakrishnan (26) for the seventh wicket.

At the Railway ground, Southern Railway Institute made 184 against Aruna. Skipper S. Raghunath made 70 for the Institute, which was 161 for four at one stage. State under-19 leg-spinner N.D. Srikanth scalped four wickets for 34 runs for Aruna.

At Pachaiyappa’s ‘A’, off-spinner R. Ashwin picked four wickets for 60 runs for Vijay against Globe Trotters which made 194 for the loss of nine wickets. U. Sushil was unbeaten on 70.

The scores: Jolly Rovers 361 for four in 90 overs (S. Vidyut 163, Petson Matthews 59, V. Subramania Siva 48) vs Young Stars.

UFCC (T. Nagar) 239 for nine in 90 overs (B. Vijay Rahul 100, Shravan Krishnan 45, M. Prabhu four for 82) vs India Pistons.

S. Rly. Inst. 184 in 66.5 overs (S. Raghunath 70, T. Dushyant 40 not out, N.D. Srikanth four for 34) vs Aruna 42 for no loss in 21 overs.

Parry’s 199 in 88.5 overs (I.K. Rohit 49, V. Rajinikanth five for 25) vs Indian Bank.

Grand Slam 290 for six in 90 overs (K.B. Arun Karthick 115, A.C. Prathiban 81) vs Alwarpet.

Globe Trotters 194 for nine in 90 overs (U. Sushil 70 not out, R. Ashwin four for 60) vs Vijay.
