Mega medical camp tomorrow

VIZIANAGARAM: Rajiv Arogya Sri will be launched simultaneously here along with other districts in the State on July 17.

To coincide with it, a mega medical camp will be conducted at Municipal High School, Kaspa, from 11 a.m. on the day, Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has said.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, the Minister said that the objective of the scheme was to provide quality medical aid to the poorest of the poor in corporate hospitals.

Hospitals listed

He said that doctors from Tirumala Nursing Home, Sai Nursing Home and Maharajah’s Institute of Medical Sciences in Vizianagaram district and those from Care, Seven Hills, Apollo, KGH and other hospitals in Visakhapatnam district that were listed in the network would examine patients at the medical camp.

Patients with chronic diseases would be referred to the said network hospitals for treatment and the government would bear the cost up to Rs.2 lakhs, the Minister said. Cardiology, kidney, cancer, burns over 35 per cent, orthopaedic were among 68 ailments included in the list for treatment under the scheme. He said that Rajiv Arogya Sri ID cards would be issued to all white ration card-holders through gram sabhas. Persons having photographs on the Rajiv Arogya Sri cards alone were eligible for treatment in corporate hospitals. He asked Indiramma gram committees, Adarsha Rythu, Village Revenue Officers and field officers (NREGP) to coordinate with the administration in the distribution of the cards to 5.77 lakh beneficiaries in the district.

House-sites

Some 245 Below Poverty Line (BPL) families in Thotapalem (14th ward) were allotted house-sites through lottery at a function here on Tuesday. Mr. Satyanarayana, who participated in the function as chief guest, told the gathering that the aim of the government was to realise dreams of the poor.

He said that the government would release Rs. 43,000 and also arrange Rs.30,000 under ‘pavala vaddi’ scheme through banks for construction of houses.

In the next one week, the Minister said that 150 more BPL families living around Pradeep Nagar, Sai Nagar and other areas would be allotted sites at the place where they presently were living.

Later, he gave away Rajiv Arogya Sri ID cards to the beneficiaries.
