DEHRA DUN: They were proud moments for constable Ashish Kumar as Uttarakhand Chief Minister B. C. Khanduri presented him a cheque for Rs.1 lakh and the badge of a head constable at a colourful ceremony here on Tuesday for having conquered the summit as a member of the All-India Police Mount Everest Expedition on May 22, 2008. Praising the courage and dedication displayed by Ashish in conquering the world’s highest peak, Mr. Khanduri hoped he would continue to display his talents in times to come. The Chief Minister announced that it had been decided to promote constables who had put in 14 years of service as special head constables and constables who had completed 24 years as special S-Is.
