Redya Naik addresses farmers’ loan waiver mela

Waiver scheme benefits 3,700 ryots of Maripeda

MARIPEDA (WARANGAL DT.): Tribal Welfare Minister D. S. Redya Naik assured that the State would stand by the farmers during their hard times and urged them to repose faith in the government.

He said the government was firm on continuing the free power during the next term too. “Many people and political parties did not believe in free power promise made by our Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, but the government succeeded in implementing the promise during the last four years,” he pointed out.

Mr. Redya Naik was addressing the farmers’ loan waiver mela here.

Taking a dig at the TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Minister urged the people not to believe in promises being made in desperation for power. “As Mr. Naidu is touring the State, the rain god stopped blessing the people. It is better if he stops his tour in the interests of farmers,” he said. The Minister hoped that there would be sumptuous rain ahead and urged the farmers not to panic.

The government also made elaborate arrangements for supply of adequate quantities of urea and other fertilizers, he assured.

He explained that at Maripeda farmer’s cooperative society, more than 3,700 farmers benefited to the tune of Rs. 7.27 crore through the loan waiver scheme.

The farmers who have repaid their loans on time were also given Rs. 5,000 each. More than 1,200 farmers were given cheques at the mela on Tuesday.
