Organise book fairs, officer urges corporate houses
Special Correspondent
NEYVELI: Inspector-General of Police (North Zone) K. Radhakrishnan has called upon corporate houses to emulate Neyveli Lignite Corporation in fulfilling social responsibility by organising book fairs and conducting health camps.
He was delivering the valedictory address at the 10-day Neyveli Book Fair held under the aegis of the NLC in Neyveli on Monday.
The fair had established the fact that India was on the growth path because it helped in the creation of a knowledge society, a vital input for development.
It was unique that the fair had found unflinching support from the NLC that patronised authors, publishers and budding talents. Good books kindle innovative thinking that in turn would result in invention, Mr. Radhakrishnan said.
The NLC had organised health camps on the fair grounds for the visitors.
A total of 2,500 people were tested for body mass index, 3,000 were tested for diabetes, 400 for HIV and 450 for vision problems.
K. Vaidiyanathan, Editor, Dinamani, hailed the NLC for nurturing intellect through book fairs.
NLC director (personnel) P. Babu Rao also spoke.
