ALAPPUZHA: The All Kerala Gold and Silver Merchants’ Association has called upon all gold and silver merchants to close their shops on Wednesday for a State-wide protest against tax department raids. Association’s State general secretary P.C. Natesan said tax department officials were conducting “unjustified” raids on jewellery shops across the State. He added that merchants were already hit by the market slowdown. —Staff Reporter
