PERAMBALUR: The District and Sessions Judge S. Kalavathy on Tuesday, ordered the attachment of a bus belonging to the Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation as the organisation failed to disburse compensation to the family of an accident victim as ordered by the court earlier. According to the petitioner, Patchaiammal (44), her husband N. Govindasamy was fatally knocked down by a bus owned by the SETC near Nedungoor on the Tiruchi–Chennai National Highway in March 2004. Patchaiammal and her dependents filed a petition with the District and Sessions court in 2004 and the court awarded a compensation of Rs.11,34,500 to them in November 2005. Since the SETC failed to disburse the compensation, the petitioners filed an execution petition the subsequent year when the court ordered a higher award of Rs.13,09,132, inclusive of interest on the earlier award. The petitioners recently filed another execution petition, praying for a directive to the SETC to expedite the disbursement of the award. The District Judge ordered the attachment of a bus owned by the SETC. The court staff who went to the new bus stand here, attached a bus belonging to the SETC and brought it to the court.
