Book on East Godavari released

Kakinada: Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju released a book titled ‘The Culture and Heritage of East Godavari district’ brought out by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) at the Bennet Club here on Tuesday.

Mr. Pallam Raju said East Godavari district had a rich culture and heritage but only a few people were aware of it in the absence of efforts like that of the INTACH to bring to light the bygone era. He observed that the district had much more to offer than just temples that were being protected by the Archaeological Survey of India and other State departments.

The book published by INTACH would let people, particularly the young generation, to know about the history of the district and its culture.

For instance, there were several old buildings which were not mere structures in cement and brick but beautiful outlines given to the elements of architecture and practicality. Good urban planners were required to construct and protect such buildings which reflect the history of cities and towns.
