Letters to the Editor
I am a regular reader of The Hindu. I have always appreciated the newspaper for its authenticity and unbiased opinions. But today, I am deeply hurt. The cartoon (July 15) was disturbing. How can a Sikh be shown taking off his turban in front of others? The turban is not a cap or a helmet that can be taken off. It is very sacred and needs to be respected. I myself criticise Manmohan Singh for the lack of statesmanship he has shown in taking various decisions. Criticise him but do not degrade and devalue him with such cartoons. Manpreet Singh Duggal, Lucknow The cartoon was published with no malice or intention to degrade anyone. But if it gave offence to some of our readers, we offer our sincere regrets. Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu
