Parents’ appeal to Prepak for release of boys
Iboyaima Laithangbam
IMPHAL: The proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Prepak) has once again announced that two missing boys are in its custody. Akoijam Bipinchadra and Akoijam Ajoy, both aged 13, had been missing since July 6. Their parents had appealed to the militants to set them free. A militant had telephoned the parents to inform them that the boys were with them.
Making the formal announcement, Prepak said the boys had come of their own volition to join the outfit. They were not coerced or kidnapped, it said. It regretted that some civil organisations were showing it in bad light.
Two other boys had earlier been set free. The police arrested two youths on the charge of luring the boys and handing them over to the militants. While one was released on bail, the other was detained under judicial custody.
