Port workers withdraw strike notice

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Tuesday said the five labour federations of Major Port Trusts & Dock Labour Boards had withdrawn their notice proposing to go on strike on or after July 16.

According to a Shipping Ministry release, the unions reached an agreement with the management on their demands.

Incidentally, Minister for Shipping, Road Transport & Highways T. R. Baalu announced a relief to workers at a function at the Tuticorin Port Trust on Monday evening.

Last week, representatives of the labour federations and management had met him.
