Civil station at Kudappanakkunnu inaugurated

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Government servants should not delay service to citizens on technical grounds, Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has said.

Inaugurating the civil station complex at Kudappanakkunnu on Monday, Mr. Achuthanandan urged government servants to be punctual and to provide efficient service to the public.

The Chief Minister said the civil service should be corruption-free for providing better service to the public.

Housing the district-level offices in one complex would ensure better coordination among the departments and avoid delays, Mr. Achuthanandan said.

The government was aware of the lack of bus connectivity to the civil station and steps would be taken to ensure that more buses ply to Kudappanakkunnu. The road network would also be improved. The government was committed towards the development of the capital city and the State, he added.

Listing out the initiatives taken for the development of the city, the Chief Minister said the commissioning of the new world class terminal at the airport and the International Convention Centre would alter the face of the capital.

Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran presided over the inaugural function. Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs M. Vijayakumar, who represents Thiruvananthapuram North in the Assembly, handed over the keys of the civil station complex to District Collector Sanjay M. Kaul.

Minister for Food and Civil Supplies C. Divakaran, Minister for Water Resources N.K. Premachandran, Minister for Public Works Mons Joseph, Minister for Transport Mathew T. Thomas, Pannian Ravindran, MP, Mayor, C. Jayan Babu, district panchayat president, Anavoor Nagappan, and legislators from the district spoke.
