Mechanism on de-addiction coming

NEW DELHI: The government has decided to set up a consultative mechanism on de-addiction at the national level.

A national consultative committee on de-addiction and rehabilitation (NCCDR) is to be constituted.

It would advise the Central and State governments on issues connected with drug demand reduction, especially education and awareness building, de-addiction and rehabilitation. Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Meira Kumar would be its chairperson and the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan the vice-chairperson.
