SRINAGAR: The National Conference (NC) on Tuesday authorised the party president Omar Abdullah to take a final decision on supporting the UPA government at the Centre when it faces the trust vote in the Parliament on July 22.
The National Conference has two members in the Lok Sabha.
The decision was taken at the marathon meeting of NC’s core group here which met at Mr Abdullah’s residence and discussed whether the party should support Manmohan Singh government on the India-U.S. nuclear deal.
Senior NC leader Abdur Raheem Rather said “The core group of National Conference has authorised the party president to take the final decision on the issue of the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal.” Two votes of the National Conference could prove crucial for the survival of the United Progressive Alliance government.
Besides Abdullah, MP Abdur Rashid Shaheen from Baramulla-Kupwara is another member of the NC.
