There is still hope for students aspiring to study at Delhi University. A couple of colleges have come out with a fifth cut-off list to induct more students in view of admission withdrawals and cancellations. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College has brought out a fifth admission list for some courses like B.Sc. (Honours) Electronics, Physics (Hons) and Mathematics (Hons) at the same cut-off as that in the fourth list. B.Sc. Physical Science and B.Sc. Life Science can be pursued at 55 and 59 per cent, respectively. DDU is offering 2 per cent concession for girls in all the courses. Satyawati College (morning) too has seats in several courses like B.A. (Programme), B.Com. (Prog), B.Com. (Hons), English (Hons) and Political Science (Hons). The cut-off for girls is five per cent less than that for the boys. Students can visit the college on Thursday to take admission. Hindu College, too, had a handful of seats in History (Hons) following a few withdrawals. However, the seats were filled up on Wednesday itself. Asad U. Khan, senior lecturer in the Inter-disciplinary Biotechnology Unit of Aligarh Muslim University, has been appointed a member on the editorial board of six reputed international scientific journals. Dr. Khan is actively involved in the research area of multiple antibiotic resistance in bacteria. He has published more than 40 research articles in various journals. Adhering to the credo that education without social responsibility has no worth, Zakir Husain College at Delhi University has always given importance to imparting social responsibility among its students through the National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme. The NCC of the college has been engaged in grooming the youth into disciplined and patriotic citizens. The cadets have attended camps at various places across the country in 2007-08, including the Republic Day Camp and the Guard of Honour for the Vice-President and the Prime Minister. Acknowledging its responsibility towards the underprivileged section of society, the NSS unit of the college has been organising various projects and programmes. Two of its ongoing projects are Campus Cleaning and Reading for Blind. It has also sponsored lectures and debates on socially relevant issues like Drug Abuse and Women’s Education. Arena Animation has launched a brand new version of its 2.5-year comprehensive Animation Engineering programme -- DAE. This programme is available only at select Arena Animation centres across the country. DAE is a specialised programme designed as per industry’s demands. The course promises to offer a unique blend of digital and analogue art skills as well as an understanding of the creative and technical processes involved. FOSTIIMA Business School will be conducting a special programme on English Communication and Soft Skills for candidates admitted to its MBA programme for this session. “The objective is to equip the students with high standards of communication. The course will have components on business etiquette, personality development and grooming and cross-cultural experiences,” said a release. Frameboxx Animation and Visual Effects has announced a tie-up with Punjab National Bank for providing educational loan to students to fulfil their aspirations of becoming animators and techno-artists. “It was observed that more often than not, deserving and talented students are unable to meet with the expenses involved in pursuing high-end training needed for becoming a successful animation industry professional. The tie-up with the PNB is a step forward in solving this problem,” said Naveen Gupta, executive director and CEO of Frameboxx. Parul Sharma
