SHIMOGA: Members of the Karnataka Rajya Dalit Sangharsha Samiti staged a dharna at the tahsildar office here on Wednesday to protest against the eviction of Dalit families from the land they were tilling at Tammadihalli in Shimoga taluk. In a memorandum, the protesters complained that the poor Dalit famers were cultivating 22.19 acres of land in survey number 79 of Tammadihalli in Haranahalli hobli for the last 20 years, and repeated requests for issue of documents of ownership rights were not considered. They were being evicted by the officials without any notice, they alleged.
