Mushroom collection prohibited in Goa

PANAJI: The Goa Department of Forests has prohibited collection of mushrooms from the State’s reserved forests and wildlife sanctuaries prohibited under the Indian Forest Act, 1927 and Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. People have been requested not to collect mushrooms from the sanctuary areas of Bondla, Mollem, Cotigao, Mhadei and Netravali or from any other forest areas during the blooming period as some of them are poisonous. Violation shall attract penal action, a release said on Tuesday.
