Thiruvananthapuram: Raids conducted by the Commercial Taxes Department on selected jewelleries in the State that have not adopted compounding system have unearthed large-scale tax evasion. According to Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac, raids conducted by the department on Tuesday unearthed unaccounted sales worth Rs.12.18 crore, netting Rs.1.47 crore in taxes and penalties. Addressing presspersons, Dr. Isaac said the raids were conducted on 31 jewelleries and 26 white goods shops that sell television, fridge, among others.
